Your feedback on posting Paparazzi pictures on RPHQ

Share

From the desk of RPHQWe’re being asked about the rule relating to the posting of paparazzi pictures on RPHQ. As I’ve always maintained, this board/website should be regarded as our place; somewhere that we can all feel comfortable visiting.

With that in mind, I’d like to ask your opinion on the issue. Should we or shouldn’t we allow paparazzi pictures to be posted here? It is true that Rob despises the paps, but I can’t be a hypocrite and say that I don’t enjoy looking at their pics because I do.

What would you prefer for us to do?

I’m a hypocrite. I will look at them, but I would rather click here than somewhere else.

    • booksfangirl

I’m the same. While I do feel some guilt about viewing them, the truth is I see them all over Twitter and do view them, and sometimes enjoy them depending on how intrusive. I’d rather see them here than clicking somewhere else.

      • nicole

same here. I feel guilty, and I usually wait until the fan sites have them, so the tabs dont get my clicks, but especially in a draught I am happy to see him.

        • Hazeldene

My thoughts too. I like to see the pics, but don’t like to give clicks to the tabloids. Better for us to see them here.

        • IheartEPIC*BTB4ever

Agreed. I don’t go to the tab sites but depend on the fansites. Guilty of wanting to see him whenever we can. #sorrynotsorry

      • Hayley

I agree I think the same.

  • alice

I will look at them, depending on how intrusive.

  • alice

seems Tom Holland is done w TLCOZ

    • Imogen

Yes at the gym here 🙂

      Pic attached if anyone interested

    • Just A Guest

I think they filmed much of his and CH scenes the first week before Rob went down to Colombia. Close to the end of filming in Colombia I think too. Hoping two get a cast and crew shot at the end and a definite that’s a wrap from someone. Getting impatient for some news and something fun to end the drought a little.

      • alice

I don’t mind some pics in costumes but not much.

      • Jamie

        Love Sebastian.

  • Imogen

I like looking at them, sorry.

I think now with Rob back in London he probably knows where he’s likely to get papped and can far more easily avoid. The only pap pics we’ve had have been from central London as far as I can remember. LA is another story.

  • InCogNeTo

I love pics, and don’t care where they come from!

    • Imogen

      Lol!

  • Just A Guest

Pap pics on a public street seem okay and at other public places when they know they are there and prepared. The long lens pics although more natural and fun to see I am very ambivalent about. But I agree better to click here than on a tab site and give them hits.

Another nice review for TCOAL from Italy. Posted on IMDB.

Translated: The Childhood of a Leader review by Michaelangelo Luliano in Cinematographer Italy

3/5 stars. Excerpt: Sometimes the excessive ambition of a project can pollute even the best intentions. The young American director Brady Corbet, former actor in films like Melancholia and Martha Marcy May Marlene, in his debut work, by trying to condense so many themes and to tell such a complex historical metaphor and dystopian risks being arrogant and pretentious.

But as a matter of fact, if you can be carried away by the charm of the story, accompanied by a powerful soundtrack (Scott Walker), and well played by an interesting cast, without being too stubborn in dissecting the ambitious intentions of the director, then you may well find The Childhood of a Leader to be an enjoyable movie.

The central theme of the film explodes into a loud and shocking finale (let us not reveal it) that clarifies the nature dystopian and deeply political, but also ideologically ambiguous. And, in fact, a little ‘arrogant.

As part of a great cast, Robert Pattinson has only a short amount of screen time, but he gives meaning to the whole movie, starring beside the beautiful Bérénice Bejo in the role of the cruel mother of the child and Liam Cunnnigham (Game of Thrones) as the father-diplomat. Despite being overly ambitious, the film is a good start for Brady Corbet.

thanks for the post! I read that Rob helped BC financially for the movie. Sweet of him.

      • Jamie

Wow, he did? Is he an investor in the movie and do we know how much? Either way its pretty cool of him to have done that.

      • booksfangirl

Was it just that he was cast so they got financing, or did he do more?

        • alice

I think that he didn”t receive nothing

        • Just A Guest

That is what I saw reported from BC. He helped them get financing by being attached to the film.

          • booksfangirl

            That’s what I thought! Thanks. 🙂

    • Hayley

Love seen praised for Robert performance ❤ Is also great that Brady Corbet as a new director. His first movie received three Venice FF awards and is receiving good reviews.

  • Jamie

I don’t have a problem with pap pics.

    • Just A Guest

What do they mean lost? In the jungle or what? I’m confused.

      • nicole

I think it’s a hint to lost city of Z, but of course it could be something total different. just that the person was attached to the movie before

        • Just A Guest

Oh I see. LOL I was taking it literally. Perhaps we will get a definitive word soon if they are about done today.

From Rob’s IMDB board: Some wonderful praise for the film and Brady Corbet.

“The screening of CoaL with a Q&A with Brady Corbet and Jonathan Demme hosting is coming up on October 25th. Jonathan Demme did a blog for the Film Center about the screening and it sounds amazing. He compares Brady to early Orson Welles. Whoa.”

“Blog > The Childhood of a Leader

By JBFC Board Member Jonathan Demme

In my many years of involvement with the Burns, I have never been more excited about an upcoming JBFC screening than I am about our October 25th screening of 27-year-old Brady Corbet’s mind-blowing directorial debut, The Childhood of a Leader.

When I try to trace my way back to other first films that provide the kind of thrilling and unbridled cinematics that define The Childhood of a Leader, I keep slamming into an American debut film from the 40s, directed by a then 25-year-old fledgling filmmaker named Welles. There, I said it.

I encountered Childhood at the Venice International Film Festival last month, where I was honored to be part of the Orizzonti (“horizons,” as in future-looking) section of the festival. Happily, we had more terrific pictures in our section than we had prizes to award. The Childhood of a Leader easily claimed Best Director for Brady Corbet in Orizzonti. Featuring a boldly superb score by Scott Walker, Childhood also copped the prestigious prize awarded by the Venice Opera Primo jury—those tasked with honoring the best first film from the full line-up of the festival.

There are JBFC screening dates in the works for the three other killer Orizzonti entries that won major prizes: Boi Neon (The Neon Bull) from Brazil, Tempete (The Storm) from France, and the stunning grand-prize winner, Free at Last, based on an actual incident that occurred in the midst of the evangelical church movement in Memphis, Tennessee, addressing issues of mental health, poverty, mystical faith-based healing, and exorcisms .

Like The Childhood of a Leader, these other titles are brand new pictures, all produced “outside the system” and all currently in discussion with possible distributors for 2016 releases—but we’ll be seeing these extraordinary films in Pleasantville long before they open in New York and Los Angeles thanks to the tirelessly long arms of the ingenious JBFC bookers.

Please come Sunday, October 25 at 5:00 pm for a serious “ground floor” cinematic experience with our showing of Brady Corbet’s dazzling and exquisitely original The Childhood of a Leader. Tickets are on sale now!”

And a little bit about the Safdie brothers last film award nomination. Remember Rob was at the screening so maybe as speculated in this post he will attend this since he may be in NYC filming their next film. You never know.

The Safdie brothers have been nominated for Best Feature at the Gotham Awards, and their lead actress, Arielle Holmes was nominated for Breakthrough Actor.

They’ve already won for this film at the Venice, Lisbon and Tokyo film festivals. I love that Rob is working with young directors like the Safdies and Brady Corbet who have already won prestigious awards at these festivals. It shows he has good taste and isn’t afraid of taking risks.

Winners will be announced on November 30 at Cipriani Wall Street. I suppose there’s a slim chance that Rob could attend these awards with the Safdies, if he’s already in NY shooting Good Time with them.

The 2015 IFP Gotham Independent Film Award nominations are:

    Best Feature
Carol, The Diary Of A Teenage Girl, Heaven Knows What, Spotlight, Tangerine

She has a wonderful voice. Beautiful song, reminds me of an oldie from back in the day. She could sing anything and make it sound intense.

      • InCogNeTo

She really does! The video was directed by Xavier Dolan. Don’t know anything about him, but people say that he is a great director.

          • Just A Guest

If he hasn’t already bugged out when no one was looking. Hoping for a cast and crew shot at least soon.

          • InCogNeTo

Oh God, me too! I hope he hasn’t already left and we can get airport pics with fans as he leaves the country. I really liked the welcome they gave him when he got there.

          • Just A Guest

            🙂 Fingers crossed.

    • Just A Guest

Are they done? Suitcases and packing of film cans?

      • InCogNeTo

When I first saw the pic, I thought they were at an airport

        • Just A Guest

It looks like the airport to me. I recall a similar pic when The Rover was done of all the film cans.

          • alice

they were shipping off films of the movie a week ago too. we wait and see

          • Just A Guest

Yeah could just be a weeks worth or the end of filming. Have no idea what the pic means but they have been there for about four weeks now so it is getting close to being done, at least there. Someone will tweet or post when it is officially a wrap I hope.

          • alice

            yes I hope too

    • Just A Guest

As Rob would say….”What does it mean?”

    • La vida es bella

I hope that means they are done and we’ll get to see him SOON 😛

  • zZzstock

Maybe Rob invented an invisible cloak.

    • InCogNeTo

The beard will make the cloak malfunction and useless ;p

      • Just A Guest

Do you think he will get it shaved off right away or keep it Bet he shaves some of it and maybe leaves a a smaller beard to fool the paps.

        • zZzstock

At first he will try to hetch chicken eggs there.

        • InCogNeTo

I think he’s going to shave it off right away cause he doesn’t sound too happy with it. He said it’s hard to eat certain foods with it ;p

          • nicole

I’m a bit afraid of the return of the p…. stache

“EXCLUSIVE: Mia Goth is set to star opposite Robert Pattinson in High Life, the English-language debut film from director Claire Denis. The movie is about a group of criminals who accept a mission in space to become the subjects of a human reproduction experiment. They find themselves in the most unimaginable situation after a storm of cosmic rays hit the ship.”

Soooo, this is a bit of a twist. Fun in space with cosmic rays? Unimaginable? So really getting excited about this. 🙂
PS: I vote for lots of Rob clones. Just a thought.????

      • Hayley

      Same for me.

I’m not thrilled with pap pics, but see them as a necessary evil, so yeah they’re okay.
