In a wonderful surprise of the night, Brad Pitt joined Robert Pattinson, Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, Tom Holland, and director James Gray at the Lost City of Z premiere in Los Angeles, California. The event was held at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. The movie is centered around Private Percy Fawcett, whose humble background meant that his chances of being promoted in 1920s England were nonexistent. Despite the strenuous and difficult conditions, Fawcett finds himself mesmerized with the jungle; after he is transferred to a Royal Society land surveying expedition to Bolivia. This fascination would ultimately prove to be his undoing. It led to him agreeing to another expedition, even though it meant spending years away from his wife Nina (Sienna Miller) and their young children. Even the real possibility of his children growing up fatherless, without ever knowing him wasn’t a deterrent against the allure of the mighty jungle. Fawcett would go on to find traces of lost civilizations in the Amazonian rainforest.
Fawcett became convinced of the existence of a sunken metropolis, the mysterious City of Z. However, his claims were laughed off by the scientific establishment, and rational thinking beings everywhere. Driven by the desire to prove his theory, Fawcett sets out on one last fateful journey with his now adult son. The dramatic events that occurred in the Brazilian jungle at the time have given rise to numerous speculations that have endured to the present day. Based on David Grann’s non-fiction book, James Gray’s dramatic adventure story is also an accomplished portrait of social conventions in a time of great scientific and social upheaval. The Lost City of Z has already been released in France and the United Kingdom and will be in limited release in the United States on April 14 before going nationwide on April 21.
